This is such a deep rabbit hole — no pun intended.
Is sex the most powerful drive we experience in this life? The pleasure it brings, the emotional journeys it takes us on... and the scars it aggravates.
Learning to control this energy is vital if we are to remain sane and healthy. Sex addiction is no different from food addiction or screen addiction — just far more powerful.Like other double-edged swords, sex can help us transcend the confines of our delusional self-centredness, allowing us to connect with the other in profound — and sometimes disguised — ways. But it is equally capable of driving us deep into our egotistical, pleasure-seeking selves.
I don’t believe this is always a simple binary switch. There can be crossover — within the moment, within the soul and mind. The two roads intertwine, confusing the individual who, without awareness, can become derailed very quickly.
Often, men are drawn to objectify sex; yet even within that objectification can be heard the whispers of a soul longing for transcendent union.
Mentorship and open dialogue are needed for those entering adulthood. Instead, the majority of young men and women simply take what is on offer: porn.
Of course, Empire loves it — and pumps it out for free through endless channels.
