Never mind the appropriation… Nirvana’s cover was a metaphor. Unfortunately, this iteration isn’t. This is reality — virtual reality. I’m sure everything works out in the end, but my God, this is a dark cul-de-sac we’ve wandered into.
Toddlers swiping mindlessly while parents gawp at their phones — the lack of human interaction is the real killer. Neural pathways that simply won’t be formed. How far do we go? Is there a split coming — a separation between two worlds?
Even before the virtual world gave us the option to disappear, we struggled to remain present and connected. So how do we face this new struggle? Let’s hope that, like a child who has eaten too much sickly-sweet caramel chocolate and craves an apple or a piece of meat, we will naturally find our way back home.
