THE CAR THIEF

The Car Thief was the first of the covers created in the pulp retro style, featuring the gorgeous Tiffany font.
We all knew immediately that it was the right format for a whole series of paintings.

The design is almost identical to the original book cover, but if Duchamp can steal a urinal, I don’t see why we can’t borrow a book cover. Apparently, that makes it postmodern.

And then there’s Khan — agenda puppet, Chief Executive of the Greater London Authority — leaning on the meter like a stud. He kind of has that air about him, as if he thinks he’s something special. I often wonder what the inner world of these puppets is like. The real tragedy, in my view, is that they are not one-dimensional demons but human beings who must, I believe, be in deep pain—or at the very least in such a numb state that their lives must be almost unbearable.

We could just as easily have called it The Taxman, as that’s how he is seen by the majority of Londoners—more and more of whom are now recognising how the so-called “climate crisis” is being used as an excuse for increased control and extortion.
