Jake Fern and The Righteous Brothers Exhibit at The
Truman Brewery, Spitalfields
27 November – 4 December 2025
Acclaimed portrait artist Jake Fern—host of the A Thousand Words podcast—will be
exhibiting alongside The Righteous Brothers at The Truman Brewery, Spitalfields, from
27 November to 4 December 2025. The exhibition will showcase Jake Fern’s portraits
from his ongoing series, as well as a selection of his personal works, displayed in dialogue
with The Righteous Brothers’ striking and often controversial canvases.
Winner of the 2025 Sussex Portrait Artist of the Year, Jake has also exhibited and sold work at the
prestigious Royal Society of Portrait Painters Annual Exhibition. Throughout the week,
visitors will have the chance to see Jake painting live and take part in free drawing
workshops, offering rare insight into his creative process. The Righteous Brothers, a
collective led by Jake, have developed a reputation for confronting social and cultural
tensions head-on. Their work challenges the boundaries of modern discourse and has
sparked debate among critics and audiences alike. Having lived and worked in Nepal,
South Africa, and for five years on the edge of a Sudanese refugee camp, Jake’s art is
deeply informed by global experience and empathy. Reflecting on his time abroad, he
says: “When I first started working there, I was constantly approached by young men who
wanted a way to get to England. I never blamed them. They were good people wanting a
better life. I think it's important to retain that human perspective when faced with the
madness around us. Yes, these things are being orchestrated to create chaos and the
acceptance of digital ID etc. But we mustn't let that lead us down a dark road of hate and
victimhood. That only ends up feeding the machine.” Through this exhibition, Jake Fern
and The Righteous Brothers invite audiences to engage with challenging ideas while
